Creating Art is food for my soul. It is the focus of my life for the past 30 years. Creating is not always easy, but the process gives me a grand since of accomplishment, where it takes me is a wonderful mystery, even if the viewer only sees the end result. Each new work is inspired by my inner landscape, uses all my senses, and a history of landscapes, portraits, and my own fantasy world. I create commissioned paintings, and weave my client’s views with my own, and together we create something new, which then becomes the inspiration for many new works. Once the basic idea is completed, I push the envelope and the work really develops, going beyond the original thought process. I want the viewer to feel the paint and emotion through color, shape, and composition. The artist Helen Frankenthaler has been my greatest influence. Although all of the abstract expressionists have influenced my palette, my inner vision is a patchwork of forms that grow like a quilt, bleeding into an ocean that is fed and grows when nurtured. I work abstractly and figuratively. I love the Nude, The Landscape and want to do it all without limits: I do not want to be put in a box. I love oil paint, charcoal, watercolor and even clay. My work has been getting more sculptural through the years and it shows in the materials I use. I visualize a whole city exploding with elements of style I will put it together like music, so it flows and dances. Put technology aside let the art in everyone flow, and let’s keep the sensitive nature alive that we all possess. Hopefully my art will encourage others to keep this vision alive. My style has evolved to become a series of abstract and representational images. Each piece is part of a larger canvas that advances my painting style. Ultimately, my art fits together like a puzzle, I produce work in a category I like to call ‘paraserialism’ – a hybrid of ‘parallel and serial’ in that my paintings can live together in a continual context or series.
